The Government Will Allocate Over 3 Million in Metaverse Funding

In recent weeks, we've seen an increasing number of news stories about the metaverse and its applications—so much so that the government is now moving to promote its use.


As reported by a national media outlet, "The Government will allocate up to 3.8 million euros to SMEs and self-employed individuals based in Spain or the European Union who are working on experimental development projects and process innovation in the field of Web 3 and metaverse-related technologies."


This initiative, part of the Spain Digital 2026 strategy, has been officially published in the BOE (Official State Gazette) and is focused on providing grants for the development of processes using technologies such as VR (Virtual Reality), AR (Augmented Reality), and XR (Extended Reality), all of which are included under the metaverse umbrella.


The goal is to create a more competitive landscape that attracts business opportunities to Spain, aiming to turn the country into a long-term Audiovisual and Technology Hub.
