How Virtual Events Help Reduce CO₂ Emissions
This is a subtitle for your new post
In the past, volcanoes were the main source of CO₂, but today, the burning of fossil fuels for transport, electricity, and industry are the primary culprits. In Spain alone, transport accounts for over 35% of total emissions, according to Newtral.
During 2020, global emissions dropped by about 7% compared to 2019 due to the pandemic, but CO₂ concentration continued to rise. According to the UNEP report, this reduction only represents 0.01°C — far from the Paris Agreement’s target of limiting warming to below 2°C.
While small individual actions matter (reduce, reuse, recycle; eat sustainably; use renewable energy; drive less), companies can also make a huge impact — and virtual events are a powerful way to do so.
By hosting events virtually, organizations eliminate travel, accommodation, and waste, significantly reducing environmental impact.
Concrete figures:
- Up to
58 kg of CO₂ saved per person on air travel (per 100 km).
- 38.8 kg saved
on land travel (per 100 km).
- 44.3 kg saved on hotel stays (per night).
- Up to
3.8 tons less energy consumption per 100 m².
Virtual events not only promote sustainability but also help companies meet their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) goals.
