The National Cyber League GC was born in 2019 with the aim of achieving a meeting point between all actors with responsibility in the field of cybersecurity, spreading the culture of cybersecurity, enhancing the talent of young students and promoting employability.

After developing the first edition in person, with the arrival of Covid-19 the competition had to be adapted and changed to a completely virtual format by the hand of Walcon Virtual, a virtual events consultancy based in Alicante that has already worked with national and international entities of all kinds.

This year 2021 the competition is organised in mixed mode, with the qualifying phase and the semi-final being online, again relying on Walcon Virtual and organising the challenges in a 3D space in which each user accesses with their avatar and can visit the area of collaborating companies, enter an auditorium and do networking among all the attendees; and holding the final in person. In the last edition, more than 650 participants from 15 regions of Spain took part in this event, with students from 8 countries also taking part. 

In this 3rd edition, the competition has Iker Casillas as sponsor, former Spanish footballer who has expressed his interest in supporting people with innovative projects and ideas, and above all, young people, being present in this event through its accelerated incubator Sportboost.
