Following Facebook's 2014 purchase of Oculus VR, the company has invested billions in shifting to the next generation of content, the metaverse, even changing the prestigious name of Facebook to Meta.

On the 23rd, Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Meta, went on a virtual CNBC show where he discussed the company's upcoming plans: they expect to reach a billion people interacting in the metaverse and spending hundreds of dollars on virtual commerce and shopping, whether it be digital goods, NFTs or accessories for their virtual avatars.

Zuckerberg is aiming for a massive economy around the metaverse, something he has already done with Facebook and Instagram, and now hopes to do with Meta.

In addition, the CEO added that they are betting big on the development of an AI that would boost revenue by up to 97%. It would be a similar concept to that used by TikTok, showing content based on the user's interests and in a very accurate way: "“Our AI system can choose based on what it knows about you and what you personally are going to be interested in and learn about, what you want to see."
